Bayern advanced to the second leg with a goal from Kingsley Coman in the second half.

Kingsley Coman scored for Bayern in the second half to help them through to the second leg.

FC Bayern Munich defeated Paris Saint-Germain 1-0 in the Champions League first leg on Tuesday. Kingsley Coman scored the only goal of the match, and the video assistant referee prevented Kylian Mbappe from scoring the equalizing goal in the second half.
Unmarked Coman swept his Davies cross for Alfonso in the eighth minute of the second half at Parc des Princes. It was just as Mbappe was preparing to step into the fray after PSG looked unimaginative without their top scorer.

Mbappe and the stadium as a whole thought Nuno had equalized after eight minutes through a cutback from Mendes, but early in the play the Portuguese full-back was just ahead of the last defender.Goal dismissed as unattainable.

After Benjamin Pavard was dismissed from the game, Bayern finished with 10 players. but it was a frustrating ending for PSG, who looked much better in the latter stages with Mbappe on the field but also needed a couple of fine saves by Gianluigi Donnarumma to prevent a bigger deficit.

PSG must now hope for a positive outcome from the second leg, which will be played in Munich on March 8.
Coman, whose career began in Paris, did not celebrate his goal, but it was a case of history repeating itself because he had scored the game-winning goal when Bayern defeated the club controlled by Qatar in the 2020 final in Lisbon to win the title for the sixth time in the club's history. Mbappe, a top player from France who was out with a hamstring injury, was called up to the team and returned to practice earlier than anticipated over the weekend.

He was named among the substitutes while Warren Zaire-Emery became the youngest player ever to appear in a Champions League knockout game at 16 years and 343 days. But Bayern had little to worry about in the first half, as Mbappe (who scored seven goals in six group stage games) was on the lookout while Lionel Messi and Neymar sorely missed his presence.

Instead, Bayern controlled the game with his three-man central defense, and in the first half he limited PSG's shots on goal to just one.
But the Bundesliga leader, still missing Sadio Mane after recovering from injury, did little to upset Donnarumma, except for Joshua Kimmich's shot, which was easily parried.Julian of Bayern Nagelsmann took over Joao Cancelo at half-time and replaced him with Canadian international Davis.
PSG also made a change, surprisingly replacing Achraf Hakimi with French centre-back Presnel Kimpembe. The 24-year-old was gearing up when Bayern scored his first goal when Davies crossed in from the left of the far post.

Mbappe replaced Carlos Soler shortly after, but the French champions needed Donnarumma to stay in the game to secure a draw.

Donnarumma saves Pavard's header from the next corner. PSG had to find a way to get the ball to Mbappe and in the 73rd minute Fabian Ruiz sent the striker on target with an overshoot.

Bayern goalkeeper Jan Sommer ran out to block Mbappe's shot with his face before Neymar's shot went wide. The cheers then subsided as Bayern pinned Pavard after Mbappe put the ball into the net.
